Full disclosure, I do not receive any affiliate kickback promoting the Broadway Stage Management Symposium, but I have been involved in both the expo and on panels in the past – so I am clearly a bit biased towards how awesome it is.
Today I want to talk about the Broadway Stage Management Symposium. In case you are unaware, it’s a gathering of pretty much
the coolest people on the planet
(stage managers) with a variety of panels and keynotes that focus on various aspects of stage management. There is also time for networking and a pretty cool expo area that features tech, tools, associations, and other areas of interest to stage managers to check out. This year there is also a group trip to see
Paradise Square
followed by a Q&A.
And finally (are you not sold yet!??!), there is actually a third day this year full of tech related workshops by groups like Virtual Callboard, Stage Write, Stage Spot, Showbuilder, Cue-to-Cue and CallQ.
I know as a new doctoral student, I’m excited to hear The Study & Analysis of Stage Management. Cherie B. Tay is giving a keynote and frankly almost everything she does is fascinating.
Bet ya'll didn't know I was a Cherie B. Tay fangirl. And yet, here we are.
The panels are a really wide variety of topics, you can check out the full Symposium schedule here. The Symposium is both in person in NYC and online on May 21-22, 2022, with the additional bonus day of tech workshops on Monday, May 23
rd
.
What’s the damage?
To join in person, a ticket costs $227.
To join virtually, a ticket costs $177.
Additionally, it costs $80 to also see Paradise Square and attend the post show Q&A.
You can check out a few different payment plans here. Or if you really want to attend but financial hardships are making that impossible, you can reach out to info@broadwaysymposium.com to sort out a custom payment plan that can work for you. In my opinion, this event is really incredible. While there have been a lot more events for stage managers over the last few years, I think this event brings together such a wide variety of people and,
most importantly,
I have always found everyone to be so friendly.
Where else do you get 100+ people together in room souped up to chat about stage management? It’s a rare and wonderful thing.
